Synopsis

chapter 26. Clio POV. Lyre is safe from the death spell but weak without magic. He asks Clio why she saved him. She says she couldn't let him die after he saved her from Dausen. Lyre kisses Clio. Clio asks Lyre what the spell does and Lyre explains that it devourers magic and expands fed by that magic indefinitely. She asks the name of the spell and he tells it's KLOC. Clio leave Lyre in the bedroom to rest and recover his magic. Erics says he knows how to escape Asphadel. Clio says that she won't leave without Lyre.

chapter 27. Lyre POV. Lyre hears Clio advocating for him to come with them. He knows he has to escape because of his family. The Erics comes into the room and reveals he wants to take Lyre's KLOC spell to Sebastian, Price of Iroda. Clio interrupts them and Erics kills Cassio. While Clio is devastated by Cassio's death Erics escapes. Lyre tries to console Clio. He urges her to run from Asphadel as soon as possible. Arios, Magical, Andante, and Lassias comes into the room then a question them about spell and Lyre knocks Clio unconscious so that they can't get information from her. Andate says they will interrogate Lyre then.

chapter 28. Clio POV. She comes conscious in Bastille prison wearing magic dampening collar. She is grieving Cassio. Guards deliver new prisoner to the cell beside hers, Ash. He managers to knock all guards out and then enters the cell on his own. He tells her she must have done something stupid to end up in prison. He tells her she will be there until her sentence which depends on what she did. She is asking him why he attacked guards at the party. He doesn't want to answer questions. She peppers him with more questions but he refuses to answer all of them. Then she asks if she will be killed. Ash responds it depends on what she did. She confesses she stole Lyre's secret spell. Ash asks her to tell him everything and she does. Ash tells her as soon as Lyre's family gets what they want they will kill Lyre and her. She wants to escape and Ash helps her by removing magic dampening collar from her neck and telling her the best way out of bastille. She wants Ash to escape with them but she realizes he has something keeping him in Asphadel and it's not prison bars of Bastille.

chapter 29. Clio POV. Clio escapes Bastille prison. She breaks into Crysylos, into Lyre's work room and gets his spells. She meets Reed there, Lyre's level headed brother. He helps her get Lyre things and tells Clio where Lyre is held, then he leaves.

chapter 30. Clio POV. Clio sets up explosions as a diversion to get others distracted while she frees Lyre. She finds him with Magical. She fights with magical and mimics his aphrodisia magic to subdue him. She frees Lyre but before they can escape Dausen shows up. Lyre sends Clio ahead and stays to fight Dausen.

chapter 31. Lyre POV. Lyre manages to slow down Dausen and catches up with Clio. Together they are trying to reach secret A-Line beneath Asphadel. Dausen reaches them before they can get to it. They fight and Lyre kills Dausen. Then he and Clio, who is unconscious go through A-line.

chapter 32. Lyre POV. Lyre brings Clio to A-line near Bringford. He takes them to the consulate. Clio remains unconscious the whole time.
